Questions
What is colour separation?
Silk screen printing prints one colour at a time, through its own screen. Separation splits your artwork into one black-and-clear film per colour; each film is used to make that colour's screen.
What does knock out mean?
Where one colour lies on top of another, the colour underneath is left out of its film, so ink is not printed on ink. It is the usual way for spot colours.
When do I need a white underbase?
On dark garments colours look dull unless a white layer is printed under them first. The underbase film is everything that prints, in one colour.
Is my artwork uploaded?
No. Everything is done in your browser; the files are made on your own computer.
Why is SVG better than a JPG?
An SVG is made of shapes with exact colours, so every film is sharp at any size. A JPG is pixels with thousands of shades; it has to be brought down to a few colours first, and its edges are only as sharp as the picture.
